Within the terms stipulated for by the curricula (sophomores - 6 trimester, 3 year students - 8 trimester) the students take the working trimester on enterprises, on organizations and firms of different forms of properties. The market conditions of economy development require the creation of new conceptions of specialists training and new relations between institutions for higher educational and state enterprises, organizations and establishments, as well as small and middle business.

Beginning with 1992 VNTU uses principally new approach to the organization of students’ practical training which is based on training and production integration following the scheme “student – worker – Bachelor, engineer, Master”. The progress is achieved due to the introduction of the third working trimester and:

• giving students licensed working specialities which totally correspond with their future engineering specialities: operator of PC typing, installer of REE, adjuster of REE, millwright of CMDA, repair mechanic, millwright – electrician, controller of machine and metalworking operations, turner, mason, plasterer, decorator, electric and oxy-acetylene welding, electrician of fixed equipment of telephone connection, operator of gas equipment, accountant, laboratory assistant of chemical, analysis accounting clerk (registering bookkeeping data);
• monitoring of labor market in the regions of Ukraine, thorough study of the employers’ requirements in different fields of economy and agriculture concerning practical skills and knowledge of modern information;
• employment of second and third year students on the vacant positions on enterprises, organizations and firms of different forms of property where they cover working trimesters within a certain period, determined by the time schedule of educational process and in accordance with the students’ working professions and labor legislation of Ukraine;
• taking scientific, research, design and technology practicum in SRI and university laboratories by four year students;
• taking practice in the places of the probable future employment by undergraduate students.

Manufacturing activities during working trimester enable students not only to improve practical skills and improve qualification, but also favors the formation of professional skills which are required for accepting challenges which the young specialists may face with in future.

There are also the conditions for full information as for the possibilities of each of the parties, which is of decisive character for determining duration of training period, role and place of the specialist on an enterprise or in business.

We are convinced that the combination of training with manufacturing activity is the optimal form for training qualified specialists.
